All roads lead to Mars

November tarotscopes

“Scorpio is not scared of confronting or excavating. It wants to know what lies beneath the still, murky waters, whether it’s unseen passion or terrible secrets.”

Halloween comes as the veil continues to thin. It’s a time for ghouls, goblins, and ghosts. 🎃 We continue to slow down and dive deeper into the dark in the Northern hemisphere as the wheel continues to turn. Right as November kicks off, the New Moon in Scorpio greets us on the 1st.

New Moons are associated with new beginnings — the seeds we are planting and will continue to cultivate. 🌚 A moon in Scorpio demands to be felt; even if is often a private affair. Scorpio is fixed water after all. With water signs, we enter emotional realms. In Scorpio, a Martian water sign, we find the ability to cry out and stand up for ourselves, for the nurture we need, and to fight to satisfy these visceral emotional needs.

It’s important to remember that standing water can become stagnant, putrid, and foul-smelling. 🐡 Guard yourselves against permitting or perpetuating passive-aggressiveness, emotional manipulation, and survival tactics which no longer serve you. But never forget, fixed signs are masters of endurance. Scorpio has staying power and tenacity. Scorpio is not scared of confronting or excavating. It wants to know what lies beneath the still, murky waters, whether it’s unseen passion or terrible secrets — like Jason rising from Crystal Lake. 🔪 So what are you tending to or digging up in your emotional realms this November?

The new moon in Scorpio is ruled by Mars — the warrior of the zodiac. Right now our warrior sits in the anaretic degree. This is a fancy way of saying “the last degree” or 29° of a sign. Planets in the anaretic degree feel a sense of urgency, like they’re in a pressure cooker, ready to charge into the next sign. They can see the way out. Mars wants to act, and even though he feels ready, it’s not exactly time yet. He’s still in Cancer, the sign of his fall, where he has to sidestep instead of taking direct action. 🦀 Mars in Cancer becomes a warrior concerned with nurture, family, and safety. As you think of this new moon in Scorpio and what you’re planting in your emotional realms, ask yourself what your Mars in Cancer wants to know — Is it worth nurturing? 🌱More importantly, does it nurture you? If the answer is a resounding NO, Mars can help you sever what no longer serves you.

Mars moves into Leo on November 3rd, picking up dignity by moving into friendly fire sign territory. ☀️ Mars will be better equipped to act, defend, and pursue his passions. However, he is immediately checked by an opposition from Pluto on November 3rd. The main thing to know here is that all oppositions can feel like a stand-off, especially when the warrior of the zodiac is confronting the Lord of the underworld.  ⚔️ Our warrior needs to hear a message before he continues onwards. Capricorn is a Saturnian sign, focused on building structures that will last the end of time. What does the Lord of the underworld tell our warrior? Which structures no longer serve us? Which structures have to be brought down? Which structures do we continue to uphold?

Again, Mars is happier in the sign of Leo. He likes it hot and it doesn’t get hotter than the abode of the Sun King.🔥 However, as he moves into Leo, Mars squares the Sun in Scorpio. A square is a conversation in the cosmos, usually a tense and slightly uncomfortable conversation we have to work through — internally or externally. So what does this mean? Our warrior exits Cancer, after a New Moon. Now, he knows more about his needs. More importantly, he knows which needs are worth the fight. What does he tell the Sun? 🌞 What does the Sun respond? Be aware that Mars will retrograde back into Cancer in December to review/reflect/readdress these topics, so take note.

Leo and Scorpio are both fixed signs. They are sure of themselves and both have the power to stand firm in this square. 🟥 Regardless, hope is never lost. It helps that Mars is in mutual reception with the Sun — Mars sits in Leo, the home of the Sun King, while the Sun sits in Scorpio, the feminine, night home of our warrior. 🔄 If we dig deep, there’s more room for understanding. After all, the Sun represents life-giving light, illumination, and gnosis (spiritual knowing) and he is talking to our warrior. Pay attention to what you’re learning and what is revealing itself, especially regarding what you’re planting this new moon, what you’re nurturing, your emotional needs, and your emotional boundaries. 🧿

When it comes to tense aspects between Mars and the Sun, there’s always the possibility of an injury or illness. 🦠 After all, Mars cuts, severs, and attacks. Meanwhile, the Sun is our life force. It’s fall season, so the flu and the cold are going around. Covid is still a serious risk affecting thousands. Take precautions. Use hand sanitizer. Mask up as you travel for the holidays. 😷

Saturn, our Timelord, stations direct in Pisces on November 15th. This means he is no longer retrograde and is beginning to move forward. When planets station direct it’s like they’re shaking off the dust. Yes, they are moving forward, but slowly, just starting to pick up speed. Soon after Mars moves into Leo, Pluto moves into Aquarius (until 2043!) on November 19. Though you might feel Pluto’s shift into Aquarius, the outer planets herald changes that take us longer to identify and understand. ⏳ Outer planets tell us more about the happenings for the collective, our society and the world. They signal generational markers, and we can’t ignore that the United States is currently in its Pluto return and the presidential election takes place as Pluto transits. After Mars enters Leo and Pluto enters Aquarius, we will find some relief as both planets move on from anaretic degrees. Tensions will ease. 😮‍💨 But it might come in the form of an ending, since we are talking about Mars. Remember too, that endings make space for new beginnings.

Finally, on November 25th, Mercury goes retrograde in Sagittarius, the sign of his detriment. Maybe you’ll feel overwhelmed by all the options you have, or by the lack of options you face. 🌀 Either way, it’s more reviewing, reassessing, renegotiating, and revisiting. We could talk a lot more about this, but we will do it another day. The thing to remember is retrogrades are not bad. I like to think of them as helpful opportunities from the universe that give us a moment to pause and ask ourselves, “does this still make sense?” 💡

This November, all planetary transits point back to Mars. All roads lead to our warrior. At his best, Mars is strategic. He dedicates himself to building and fighting for things that will stand the test of time. This is why our warrior exalts jn the sign of Capricorn. In the Timelord’s sign, Mars can channel his energy, drive, and fight into sustainable results and a lasting legacy. 🐐 This November, slow and steady wins the race. Our warrior might be beaten and bruised. He can’t run at full speed, but there is always small, incremental progress to be made. This November, don’t go tilting at windmills. Instead, ask yourself: Is it still worth your energy? Is it worth your fight? Will the test of time uphold the effort you’re currently exerting? Does it deserve nurture? Does it nurture you? ❤️‍🔥

**I’m using a Halloween tarot deck for holiday cheer. Bats correspond to Swords, Ghosts to Cups, Imps to Wands, and Pumpkins to Pentacles in the Rider-Waite deck.

♈️ Aries: Six of Imps: Who is supporting you Aries? Who is your biggest fan? Be bold and chase your passion. Your true loves, friends, and (chosen) family are cheering you on! ❤️‍🔥

♉️ Taurus: The Lovers: The Lovers is always about choice. Are you choosing yourself? Is this reflected in how you show up for relationships and commitments? Remember obligations are different from chosen commitments. Adjust your actions and how you show up in your public roles as your beliefs change, Taurus. Be true to yourself! 🌟

♊️ Gemini: The Devil: What are these entanglements, Gemini? Or are you self-sabotaging? Is your self-worth too closely tied to money or material wealth? Are you too enmeshed with others, energetically or materially? Listen to and follow your spiritual and intellectual truths, even if these are tiny seedlings, Gemini. You are ready to make the necessary changes!  🌱

♋️ Cancer: Ace of Imps (reversed): Are you taking care of yourself, Cancer? Or are you solely focused on others? We love how Cancers show up for their people. Love is transformative. But remember to take care of yourself as well, Cancer. It is not selfish to draw boundaries. 🕯️

♌️ Leo: Five of Pumpkins (reversed): You deserve all the nice things, Leo. Your home and everyday life should be sources of joy, nurture, and love. Don’t doubt yourself or what you can achieve. You can build worlds, Leo. Have faith.🍀

♍️ Virgo: The High Priestess: What brings you joy, Virgo? What does creativity mean to you? Bring it into your daily habits and do more of that! Put down what no longer serves you in the day-to-day. Remember, not everything is going to be received well by the public. Not everything is meant to be shared with the collective. (Unless you want it to be!) Follow your intuition and joy, Virgo. Remember, to look for the silver lining. 💐

♎️ Libra:  Two of Bats (reversed): How has your home and family changed, Libra? What does it look like now? What did you release? You can be whoever you want to be in the world, Libra. You don’t always have to keep the peace, especially when it no longer serves you. Be free and just be, darling. 🕊️

♏️ Scorpio: The Hermit (reversed): You are a phoenix, Scorpio. If your home, family, or ancestral practices feel shakey, trust that you can get through this. Lean into the discomfort. What does this have to teach you about home and about how you show up in the world, Scorpio? Sometimes, you have to stick to your values. But don’t become too stuck! Sometimes, we have to accept new beliefs, Scorpio. Either way, rest assured you can make a comeback from the ashes. 🐦‍🔥

♐️ Sagittarius: Justice (reversed): Why are you working so hard, Sag? Is it worth it or are you just measuring your self-worth according to your net-worth? If you’re misaligned in how you’re spending your energy or money, rest assured that new opportunities will present themselves. Lean into community and trust your mental downloads, Sag. The goal is inner balance. ⚖️

♑️ Capricorn: Seven of bats (reversed): Who are you when you’re alone, Capricorn? Who are you when you’re in relationship? If you’re being true to yourself and living your values, you have nothing to worry about. If you’re stressed about financial resources, debts, or obligations, I know that you can figure it out. Nobody works as hard as you do, Capricorn. 🧗🏽‍♂️

♒️ Aquarius: Wheel of Fortune (reversed): There are realizations and transformations taking place Aquarius. What are they revealing?  How are these affecting your daily life and your close 1:1 relationships? It’s okay to change. To quote Mac Miller, “I keep changing like the leaves.” Following your heart will never lead you astray. 🍂

♓️ Pisces: Death (reversed): Sometimes beginnings come from endings, Pisces. Sometimes, they have nothing to do with us. They’re brought about by our circumstances and loved ones. How can you  find yourself and peace in these endings and beginnings? Sometimes solitude brings us the healing we need to reemerge from our cocoon, Pisces. Sometimes, this is exactly what we need to reinvent our lives. 🦋

Astrology always depends on your natal chart and the very specific ways that these transits all talk to your natal placements. Remember, you can book a Natal Promise or a Cosmic Vibes reading with me if you want to dive deeper into your personal astrology.

New moon in Sagittarius: a test of faith and limitations
